In the shadow of the alarm clock
Textiles, glass beads, 145x75cm, 2025
In this series of works, I explore the phenomenon of memes as cultural artifacts that become symbols of an era, capturing the most important moments and collective experiences of our time. Inspired by the history of memes, I transfer their visual imagery into a unique form of glass bead embroidery, using the style of engraving.
Memes are modern myths, fragments of popular culture that instantly spread and change. In my project, I use glass beads as a metaphor to convey the fragility and temporariness of memes. Each glass bead element symbolizes a fragment of information that, despite its ephemeral nature, leaves an indelible mark on collective memory.
Memes are not just funny pictures and videos, but also expressive elements of mass communication that reflect the spirit of the times and changing social norms.
